Let's Play: Organ Trail, The End

I've decided that I can't just let this LP end on a cliffhanger. Let's end it shall we?

So I killed everyone, hooray for happy endings! I especially liked the part where the death animation changed to match how I shot each of them.

Of course this still leaves Finklefife alive and I can't make him shoot himself... soooo, you wanna see what happens when the car breaks down?

And so begins the final journey, I'll be skipping over the towns.

And it seems we have one last mini-game to see us off.

The way this one works is a bunch of bikers pull up and try to shoot you. To fight them off you have to ram them off their bike. Their shots do direct damage to the car and knock off a fair amount of health per hit.

Given that I actually wanted to wreck the car I didn't bother trying very hard to avoid getting damaged.

And so the car has broken down, honestly I was kind of hoping for an explosion or something.
Instead you just can't move until you fix it, I suppose you'd have to go scavenging if you didn't have the scrap for it.

With that somewhat underwhelming conclusion I send Finklefife out into the waiting arms (and teeth) of the local zombies.

Let's Play Organ Trail: Part 4

I'm back, let's check out this town now.

RAM wanted to know what deadly level activity entailed and I have to admit I'm somewhat curious as well so let's do that first.

The answer is it's a fucking boss fight, I know this because it plays different music and "Boss Fight!" flashes at the bottom of the screen sadly this picture was taken mid flash.

In this case the boss are those two dog zombies. They charge up close and then leap at you.

I didn't last long but I still managed to snag some food, so it's not a total loss I guess.

One medkit later and I'm ready to do something else stupid.

I guess the other thing that you wanted me to check out was the jobs.

The first one is to find an object by making my way to the left.

Unfortunately I am easily distracted and get surrounded.

The second mission is almost exactly like that minigame at the beginning. The only real difference is that this time I have enough ammo to kill everything.

Surprisingly enough I actually manage to finish this one.

With nothing left to do and none of the upgrades you recommended available I left town only to immediately run into this.

I wanted to stop here and ask you what to do but, as you can see above, the increasingly annoying reload problem is still in a affect here. Guess I'll just have to do my best.

I decided to wait awhile for the horde to thin out and calm down. This also gave my companions a chance to rest up and heal.

It looks like I was right to wait since the horde gets a little smaller and becomes docile.

I decide to go with the interesting option of shooting at everything in sight.

It didn't end well for me though. I'm sure I can replace that stuff at the next town.

And now it's time for the roadtrip montage.

And I'm back, something a little out of the ordinary happened in case you couldn't tell.

I found this guy, he's not entirely right in the head as will become readily apparent.

Not knowing how he would react to my presence I decided to approach carefully, that was not one of the reactions I was expecting.

I decided to ask him what he's doing.

Oh great he's got a death wish, I dislike suicide so I didn't want to shoot him. I also didn't want to let him do it himself with my gun since he might decide to end my torment while he's at it.

I decided to try and talk him down.

He did not take kindly to my attempts to save him.

I decided to go ahead and put him down to prevent him from snapping any further and hurting somebody else.

Also because he was starting to annoy me and I hadn't killed anything for five minutes.

Back on the road and the bad stuff just keeps on rolling in.

Like this asshole, didn't even want to try robbing me or anything, they just wanted to cause me some trouble.

Luckily you guys had me bring some spare tires, should probably replace the spare at the next town though.

Speaking of town, I made it, same choices as last time for the most part except this town has a combat trainer instead of a mechanic. Unfortunately no handy link yet exists for me to show you all the potential upgrades I could get.

Let's Play Organ Trail: Part 3

And I'm back again.

I decided to go with Frostshotgg's suggested loadout. Looked like a good spread of stuff, and mostly things I can't get by scavenging. Grabbing some food to start out with was a good idea though.

Afterwords those people you wanted to see die joined us. Don't let the gun's fool you, these people will be more or less useless during our journey. I'll be sure to make fun of that fact at every opportunity I get.

Meanwhile Clements has decided to wuss out on us and is asking me to kill him.

Hmm maybe I should have aimed for the head instead of leaving him there to bleed out from a gutshot.

Amusingly enough there is a tweet button up in the corner. Hold on a second.

Sorry couldn't resist clicking it. Just wanted to see if it actually worked.

With my Twitter shenanigans out of the way it's time to get moving.

And then stop immediately to show you stuff you can tell me to do.

Most of this stuff is pretty self explanatory, though I should point out that resting only heals companions since Finklefife always goes on watch.

Medkit works the way you'd think and I believe restores 30% of anybody's health at a time.

Kill will let you kill anybody, not just the infected, you can expect me to find some way to abuse this in the future.

Talk to stranger throws out everything you've been taught by your parents to net some exposition or a gameplay hint.

Here we have our car.

Repair uses scrap to fix up the car, it always repairs the same amount, using more scrap simply improves the odds of it succeeding.

We can also set our pace with higher paces being harder on the car and party and vice versa for the slower pace. We are currently on the middle setting.

Upgrades just let's us see what we have installed, we don't have anything right now though.

Road map let's us see how far we've come and where everything is. In fact let's take a look at it now.

Looks like we have a bit of a journey ahead of us because of somebody getting a little trigger happy with the nukes.

And here we have our supply tab where we can keep track of how much stuff we have. I'll cover scavenging in a bit but for now here's the other stuff.

Trading lets us swap stuff with other people, though it's worth mentioning that not all deals are fair.
If nobody is around to trade with like now then we can wait around in hopes of somebody showing up. There's no guarantee that anybody will show up though.

Rationing let's us set how much food get's eaten effecting the amount of health loss per hour of travel.
It can be set to 1, 2, or 3 ounces of food. It's currently set to 2 ounces.

Combat training actually covers all of the skills I can get not just the ones that involve killing stuff. I can have up to three and they can be bought in some towns.

Let's go scavenging now shall we?

Here it is, the way it works is items spawn in randomly while zombies wander in from off screen the amount of zombies depending on the activity level.

The things that I know appear are food, money, scrap, and medkits with the proper combat skill. They also come in different sizes, you can see me going for a medium money pick up in the picture above.

I've noticed it usually isn't worth the ammo cost to shoot at everything, instead it works better to dodge around them unless about to get hit or they're in between me and an item I want.

This time I was able to snag a good amount of food while also grabbing some money and scrap.

I would have said it was time to get going but then those three things happened literally back to back.
Nice to know the Oregon Trail tradition of screwing over players is alive and well. I'm guessing the guts are from the previous owner since we haven't actually done anything yet.

The rest of the trip is uneventful though. I was going to show you a bunch of screenshots of thing's you could suggest me doing but I've just noticed that reloading my save changed everything.

Handy if I where the type to save scum, not so much for audience participation though. I suppose I'll just have to be vague about what we can do here.

We can buy or sell supplies, just mention anything we need and I'll see what I can do.

If we need money we can do jobs, which again changed after reload so I can't be specific about that either.

And the autoshop sells spare parts and upgrades.

Here's a link to the wiki page listing upgrades since your participation in this regard will just have to be you telling me things to keep an eye out for. [LINK]

We can also still do everything else we could in the middle of nowhere.

So what am I going to do now?

Fuel: 22.5
Scrap: 20
Food: 260
Medkits: 10
Ammo: 396
Tires: 2
Batteries: 2
Mufflers: 2
Money: 20
